Coeur d'Alene Fair 2009

Cassidy, Fueling up for the big ride.
She was sooo ready to get going!

Waiting with the boys for the arena to be ready.
Getting her game face on!
All geared up... only a few min more....
Ready set Ride!! She held on tight for 6.09 seconds before she hit the dirt, but she walked out smiling.
Grubby girl cheering on her friends.
Cassidy's ride was good enough to earn her third place. She was very very proud to be called up to receive a ribbon.
After everyone was cleaned up and fed we got down to the business of exploring more of the fair.

Of course, they ended up at the rides. Which is where we spent the remainder of the night.

Overall.... a very fun night at the fair.

Mutton Bustin"

Cassidy has found her new favorite "sport". She LOVES it!

She tried it for the first time on Thursday night, and loved it so much she wanted to do it again on Friday. She placed 3rd in her heat and is determined to get first place at the Spokane fair. :)

Cassidy's First REAL Rollerblades

She was going along pretty good. Of course, there were a few spill and close calls here and there, but overall she really did will.
I AM DOING IT!!!!

All done and still smiling. She must have had a good time.

Riding the Hiawatha Trail

All ready to start riding!
The first tunnel is just under 2 miles long and very, very dark. It's called the Taft Tunnel.

When you come out the end of the first tunnel there is a neat little waterfall. Very pretty.

The view was gorgeous no matter where you looked! You could see one of the many tressels we would eventually be crossing (left), and where we would be on the trail in another hour or so (right).

Only 13 miles to go!!

Along the trail there are multiple tunnels to go through and tressels to cross. The opportunities for pictures are endless!

Finally made it to the end, and yes, we paid the $9 for a shuttle ride back to the Taft tunnel. Poor Cassidy had her little bike which unfortunately has little tires. The rest of us were able to pedal and coast... she had to pedal her heart out the ENTIRE time! She did it... and without complaint. :)
The shuttle dropped us off at the end of the Taft Tunnel. So all we had left standing between us and the car was another very long cold ride in the dark.

Jeff and Brandon were a good clip ahead of us, but set up so they could catch Cassidy and I coming out. It was a long, but very fun ride!

One Last Camping Adventure

8-9-09
Day
1 We got to the campground and found a PERFECT spot. It was huge and had private access to the river.... so cool!

Cassidy went on a little ride with Grandpa while the boys got right down to playing in the river.

She was sooo grubby by dinner time!
Amazing what clean clothes and a hairbrush can accomplish!
The kids took to stick fighting and role playing while we got the fire roaring for dinner.

Brandon, for one, was ecstatic when we finally had the burgers cooking on the fire!

Everyone seems to develop the campfire stare towards the end of the night... except Cassidy who was still full up on energy!

Maybe'Smores will calm her down!!
