Cassidy was pretty excited that she got to go to districts this year. She didn't get the opportunity to go in 6th grade. She was a little worried. Her coaches decided to have her wrestle up a weight class. So instead of the under 95lbs kids she had been wrestling, she was jumping up to the 100lbs class. She weighed in at 91.2 for the meet. :)
They were in a 16 man bracket, so it was hard to know where she would end up in the seeding.
Her first match was a big surprise. She had him down and pinned in about 30-40 seconds.
Her second match ended up being against the top seed in the weight bracket. She was outmatched, and in her determination to not get pinned, didn't get her limbs out where she needed them in order to do much except defend.
He scored over and over on her... she lost this one to a TF in points
Thank goodness for friends!! Ethan had a buddy to hang out with all day! These two are pros at waiting around together.
This was probably the funniest part of the day. Cassidy was DETERMINED to win this match... so determined, that she didn't hear the ref when he hit the mat to declare the pin... or when he blew his whistle. She was holding the pin hard... they had to tug on her leg to get her attention and let her know the match was over.
Final match.... Victory!
She ended up placing 5th.
Outside of school. Cassidy goes to a wrestling club also. Great group of kids. A bunch of them were also wrestling for their schools at Districts. They all came together at the end of the day.
